This blog is a place to share research, experiences and inspirations around teaching and the world of Early Childhood Education —which I believe includes just about anything and everything creative.

World Changing

As teachers (and/or parents) of young children, it is important that we stay aware of what is going on in the world, specifically in the area of environmental sustainability and education. We have a responsibility to educate ourselves and set a good example for the children in our care and to continue to educate them, their families (and/or teachers) and the communities we live in.

The book World Changing, A User’s Guide For The 21st Century and it’s website worldchanging.com are just two examples of tools that are making it easy for us to gain knowledge on environmental issues and insight into sustainable practices, on a global level.

“As you think about what these ideas might mean in your life, we encourage you to treat the information we provide as a set of avenues for exploration. There are a lot of ideas here, and not all of them will work for you: indeed, most of them will work only if you apply your own smarts and adapt them to the circumstances you face.”

Take a look at your program (and/or household) as a whole, and ask the children and their families (and/or teachers) to look with you. What can your team do to change the future?

Your post made me think of this website/book which listed very small things one can do to make the world a better place:
